about us

Our Mission

The Guardians of the River Itchen are dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and ecological integrity of the Lower River Itchen and Monks Brook. Our mission focuses on community engagement and environmental stewardship, ensuring a sustainable future for our local waterways.

What We Do

The Guardians of the River Itchen do frequent water testing, Riverfly monitoring, Smolt watches, litter picking, art projects, and we remove Invasive species. We do all of this in persuit of our Mission.

Why We Do This

We do all of this to protect the river from heavy pollution and the destruction of native wildlife. This pollution is due to bad sewer management, which results in a fall of habitability in the river, resulting in a fall in native populations within the river.
